Power ups, Astronauts and you [Part 2]
In case you missed part one of our power ups roundup, do check it out.
We know you’ve been (in)patiently waiting for this next post, because power-ups are really what spice up our everyday lives. Or they would if they existed in real life, but here’s the thing— nobody cares about real life! Just lose yourself inside Exonauts and you can power everything up to your heart’s desire.
You’ve already seen how the first 3 power ups look, though bear in mind that the visual aspect of all of those (specially that damn harness, it looked hilarious at first) are still under development. With that said, you’re about to get a first look at the other 3 waaay more epic power-ups you can use in Exonauts.
Every exonaut has a plethora of super-advanced gadgets at their disposal, and one of them is the Gem Radar — the pinnacle of stone detectors. It is unclear why such an advanced mission relies on hundreds-of-years-old sonar technology, but we’re not ones to judge. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, they say. Just turn the device on and precious stones will be much easier to come across. It is mandatory that you use the device in every expedition, because the mission heads are under constant scrutiny and, at the very least, are required to return with the mission’s budget worth of stones. Of course, if you can’t afford one of these radars, your boss is gon’ get his butt fired.
Atomic science is something beyond what we can understand, so we’ll just say that this little box filled with crazy particles will, when engaged, realign electrons and neutrons around you to repel everything that would normally harm or come into contact with you. Or something like that, honestly it just causes some crazy atomic reactions and helps you not die. There’s a very slight but potentially deadly chance of radiation poisoning, but we’ve coded that out so that you only experience the cool part of messing with atoms. Do note though; this pack only protects you from three direct hits. After that, you’ll be back to normal.
Last but definitely not least, are the Rocket Boots. We figured that if powerful rockets make going from planet A to planet B a lot easier (not to mention faster), then why not strap a couple of those babies to a pair of boots? Honestly it sounded like such a good idea that we almost threw away the rest of the power-ups. Later we realized just how dangerous causing controlled explosions at one’s feet can be and decided to keep all the other items, because that way if something happened to someone, we would have a valid excuse: “Well, nobody forced you to choose the boots, you had several other options!”
We’re still working out the kinks of this one, so don’t be fooled by the weird particles that these rad boots shoot off, cause those are being redesigned.
So that is all for now, but there are more surprises to come. Stay tuned and remember to check back for more new info!
