Power ups, Astronauts and you [Part 1]
Ahh power ups… Wouldn’t life be so much sweeter if we had them? They help us reach further, be stronger, gain wealth or transform into unthinkable things- just at the push of a button.
For Exonauts, we had to come up with ways to make the player rich faster (it is the goal of the game, after all!). Read along to find out the first three of the six awesome enhancements our explorer can choose from!
Bullet time is so ’90s. So are astronauts and space movies, so deal with it: you know you never stopped loving it. We liked the idea of giving the player some extra time to think things over, to dodge obstacles easier or get those precious precious crystals. This power up will give you a few seconds of slow-mo but keep in mind: you can still be hurt.
Space Regulation number 7331-42a requires that all Exoplanet miners are equipped with an escape measure in case of tunnel collapse. As most regulations, it is often disregarded or modified in order to maximise profits. For the Harness we wanted to give players the option to increase a few meters in height while collecting all the crystals he came across with, as well as saving him from a sticky situation.
The Union of Exoplanet Miners and the Union of Space Cooks made it very clear: No more stones until their heads were protected. Unfortunately, they should have gotten the Coalition of Interplanetary Velvet Fashion, as management decided to meet demands with the most awful design they could come up with. The Helmet is a way to protect the player from the most common obstacle in the game: falling rocks. It’s simple to use and it’ll save you more times than you care to count.
